This was a close fight, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, who felt that Anderson had done enough for a draw. Bass was the aggressor in the bout, but landed many low blows in the bout. Anderson knocked Bass down in the 1st round with a terrific left hook to the jaw. Bass rose at six, and managed to survive the onslaught of Anderson. Bass knocked Anderson down in the 5th round with a right to the jaw. Anderson closed with a strong 10th round, landing heavily on Bass.
