Unbeaten but untested 20- cruiserweight contender Santander Silgado won a close but unanimous decision over Willie Herring, the cruiserweight champion of the lesser known Universal Boxing Organization. Herring wound up taking Silgado the eight round distance. Silgado, a Dominican fighter now out of Brooklyn, and Herring were both unknown to the crowds at Aviator Arena on the untelevised undercard of NBC Sports Network coverage of Zab Judah versus Vernon Paris. Silgado appeared to win every round except the fourth and the fifth on points. The bout was relatively quiet.
