According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Canzoneri won the first four rounds. From the fifth round on, the two fought a competitive match, as Farr was able to score some hard blows on Canzoneri. The Times-Picayune, scored the bout for Canzoneri 5-2-3 in rounds. Louisiana rules were for official decisions, but this fight was specifically agreed to be a no-decision contest to preserve Canzoneri's title.
