A series of a half-dozen uppercuts in the 6th round sent Matthews down. Krieger also knocked Matthews down in the 7th and 9th rounds. The Seattle crowd booed the decision, even though Krieger was a clear winner, perhaps owing to a dislike for Krieger having taken the middleweight title from hometown hero Al Hostak.
