Fighting in spots, Overlin had the best of the first five rounds. Overlin continued to fight well after that, and dropped Smith with a left hook, for a one-count in the 7th round. Smith rallied in the last three rounds, as he cut Overlin's right eye in the 8th round, and was able to land and maul Overlin. The decision was jeered by some fans.
