Cameron Allen versus Jimmy Lubash Light Heavyweight Bout

  • Allen weighed 173 pounds, Lubash weighed 175 pounds for a contracted top weight of 175 pounds for this bout
  • The Friday night weigh-in was held at the # 1 Fireman's Club in Monessen, Pennsylvania. Source: Pennsylvania matchmaker and trainer Mike Melendez
  • Cameron Allen, a 3-11 middleweight, scored an upset win over comebacking deaf boxing prospect Jimmy Lubash. Allen won the first round by applying effect pressure on Lubash and landing overhand rights. Lubash tried unsuccessfully to counter. In the second round, Allen lowered his punches somewhat, and became more of a straight puncher, which allowed him to land more than one punch at a time, and by putting his punches together was able to TKO Lubash midway through the second. Lubash was down for a count of eight in round 2. Lubash got up and continued fighting until he was stopped. The referee picked up the count at six trying to get Cameron Allen to the neutral corner. The referee counted seven and eight in front of Lubash's face so the deaf fighter could see where the count was.
  • Allen was landing every big punch he threw on Lubash (everything Allen threw to the head and body landed). The referee intervened and walked Lubash to his corner, putting a halt to the contest.
  • LOCATION CORRECTION REGARDING THIS EIGHT BOUT BOXING CARD: THE BOXREC IS WRONG. The card-and the bout-was staged in front of a sold out card of 1500 in the small town of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh (not the Elizabethtown near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which is three hours from Pittsburgh and is often confused with Elizabeth on the Boxrec. No bouts are staged in Elizabethtown).
  • Lubash had not fought in over two years coming into this bout, since decisioning Mike McFail over six rounds in August 2009.
