Allentown Joe Gans lost to Tom Kirby by UD in round 10 of 10

Kirby easily defeated Gans. Kirby knocked Gans down in the 4th round, with a right hook. Gans who staggered around the ring before going down, rose in apparent bad shape. However, Gans had the wisdom to walk to his corner, as if the round was over. Though the round had not ended, this confused the referee and Kirby, providing enough time to allow him to survive. Kirby injured his right hand in the 3rd round.
