Joe Hogan and Harry Smith fought twenty-nine rounds at Fifth and I streets Saturday night. At 1 A. M. the lights went out, and referee Hennessey declared the fight a draw. Hogan expected to have an easy victory, but he and his friends got fooled. -The Daily Bee (Sacramento, CA), Monday Dec 16, 1889
