Sanchez met "Bob Hammond." This was Bob Roper who got his start in the Philippines boxing as "Bob Hammond" and "Buck Hammond." He won the first three rounds from Sanchez, but got clipped with a right hand that floored him in the fourth. On arising, Hammond made the mistake of trying to slug it out with Sanchez and was floored again, causing Referee Joe Waterman to stop the fight.
