  • Charles Wins On Kayo In Second

Ezzard Charles, Cincinnati's hard hitting middleweight, made his debut as a main bout performer last night in Music Hall Sports Arena and battered out a two-round knockout over Billy Hood, cagey veteran from Louisville.

The show attracted a fair-sized crowd. The main bout furnished the only knockout on the card, Hood started out good, and landed a hard punch in the first round, a left hook to the stomach. Charles, however, kept after Hood and floored him with a right behind the ear for a count of nine.

In the second Charles flailed Hood with both hands and sent him to the floor for another nine count. A few moments later, Ezzard scored the final knockdown with a right to the heart.
