Charles hurt Brown with a right to the jaw, midway through the 6th round. After battering Brown along the ropes, Charles caught Brown with another right to the jaw in the middle of the ring. Driven to the ropes, Charles landed another right to Brown's jaw and he began to drop. Charles caught him with another right and left to the jaw as he was going down, and Brown was counted.
