Charles dished out a body pounding to Bascom, though he was unable to score a knockdown. Bascom after winning the 8th round, on two cards, was driven through the ropes by Charles in the 9th. Charles pounded Bascom to the body, till the referee intervened. Charles finished the bout with a cut near his right eye, and swelling along his left eye.
