Alvarez landed a big head shot in the first round and had Perez in trouble on the ropes, seemingly taking command of the bout. From that point on, though, Alvarez appeared lost, wrongly standing in front of Perez and slugging, not moving on his feet using his once formidable defensive skills, taking a beating, till the bout was stopped in the third. It was more a case of Alvarez losing the bout and losing to himself, rather than the other fighter doing anything exceptional to win.
