Dorin Spivey versus Rod Sulka NABA Lightweight Title Bout

In the main event of a fight card at Tropicana Hotel and Casino promoted by Diane Lee Fischer's Dee Lee Promotions, lightweight Dorin Spivey won a clear majority decision over Rod Salka. Spivey punched slower at age 39, but he was the busier fighter for all ten rounds against the defensive Salka. Slow, quiet tactical war, with neither man punching hard enough to take the other man out. Many of the rounds were close, but not so close that Sulka won the majority of them. Spivey outjabbed and outworked Salka, who fought with single jab counters but a bit too cautiously. nonetheless Salka's camp cried foul and felt they won the bout, the outcome of which would have changed if Salka had won one more round. Scoring was fair. Close bout. Spivey, in remarkable physical condition for his age, appeared to have trained hard and taken good care of himself, in his bid for a final lightweight world title opportunity, perhaps as a last minute substitute world title opponent in a lightweight division marred by injuries.
