Comiskey won easily, sending Sikes to the canvas six times in the early rounds. After Sikes was down twice in the fourth, Comiskey sent him through the ropes with a left to the head. Sikes' seconds threw in the towel but referee Fred Getz continued the fight. Although Sikes went the distance, he spent 36 hours in hospital recovering from the beating. (New York Times)
