According to the Pittsburgh Press, Conn threw a heavy volume of punches to win the first rounds. Seelig who absorbed the blows, was able to catch up to Conn, and land often in the 5th round. The two fought on close terms in the 6th and 7th round, until Conn reverted to boxing in the final three rounds. Seelig appeared weary the last three rounds in the eyes of the Press and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Referee Robinson scored the bout a draw, while the other two judges favored Conn.
