After a tame first round, Callura began to work Delaney's body during the second round. As Delaney gasped for air with his mouth open, Callura landed a right hand that broke Delaney's upper jaw, and sent him down for a nine count. Callura landed a bombardment of punches after the knockdown, which did not appear to severly hurt Delaney. With about forty seconds left in the round, Delaney fell flat on his face and was counted out. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after the bout for treatment of his broken jaw.
