Freddie Miller 124 lbs beat Johnny Brown 123 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1929-01-23
  • Location: Music Hall Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
  • Referee: Lou Bauman

Using his speed, and advantage in height and reach Miller easily defeated Brown. Brown charged in at Miller, who kept him off of him with his left hand, and a right hook. Miller staggered Brown in the final round, and pounded him along the ropes. On the unofficial scorecard of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Miller took all but the 6th round won by Brown; and the 3rd, which they called even.

Brown was the Greater Cincinnati bantamweight champion entering the bout, and was fighting his first bout as a featherweight in a bid for Miller's local title. Two-minutes rounds were fought at the request of Miller, citing his youth.

  • Miller's purse: $1,855.13
  • Brown's purse: $1,484.19
