Fuller sent Kilburn to the canvas with a right hand to the head, and added a left to the head as he went down. The referee and half the audience did not feel that the knockdown was legitimate, and chose to not count out Kilburn. Kilburn was sent to his corner, where the club physician determined he could not continue. George then stopped the bout.
