• The fighters attacked each other in their ring ropes before the opening bell, and the referee had to break it up.

• Benson began throwing leather and hit McRae several times in the face. McRae held on in a clinch and would not let go. Benson punched McRae while in the clinch, but McRae would not let go. The referee could not separate the two combatants, and waived the bout off.

• All three individuals then plunged to the canvas, resulting in a double disqualification by referee Bill Clancy.
