Rodak entered the bout with a bandage covering a cut over his left eye. A minute into the round, Brown had opened the cut, which bled badly, and required a check from the ring doctor after the 1st round. Rodak fought desperately in the 2nd round, fearing a stoppage, and had blood streaming from Brown's nose. Late in the 3rd round, he landed a left-right to the midsection of Brown, that floored him for the count.
