Amanda Serrano 130 lbs beat Dominga Olivo 132 lbs by TKO at 1:18 in round 3 of 6

Amanda Serrano TKO'S Dominga Olivo

In an all-Brooklyn bout, in the main event on an eight bout card at Resorts New World Casino Aqueduct Raceway, BoxRec number four world ranked southpaw Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) world champion Amanda Serrano, 24, threw power shots loaded with thunder at onetime contender Dominga Olivo, 40, a former National AAU amateur champion attempting a comeback after two years inactivity.

Only the first round was of interest, with Serrano coming forward with pressure, and Olivo moving side to side trying to use her jab out of range. In rounds two and three, Serrano cut off the ring and trapped Olivo along the ropes, forcing Olivo to slug it out. Serrano's technique, body shot followed by head punch with speed and accuracy, turned Olivo's face red. Near the end of round two, Olivo pitched backward into the ropes but was saved by the bell. The continuance of the bout was questionable at this point, but referee Samuel Viruet gave Olivo another chance.

In round three, Serrano trapped Olivo along the ropes and began an exchange of brutal head shots. Olivo countered but could not escape. Serrano's power bombs were landing on Olivo's head with maximum force, causing the ringside doctor to jump up and down waving his hands to stop the contest ringside to ref Viruet. Olivo was fighting back, but the end was coming and not in doubt, making it senseless to prolong the bout.

Serrano also retired Olivo for all intensive purposes, as Olivo's beating certainly ended her career.

Notables in attendance included Junior Jones, Luis Collazo, Wayne Braithwaite, Cindy Serrano, Will Rosinsky, Darrel Madison, Jorge Luis Teron, Dmitriy Salita, Jonathan Cuba, trainer Tommy Gallagher, and 8-1 Rafael Vazquez, whose bout on this card fell through when his opponent pulled out and who will fight Leon Moore in a pending bout later in 2013. A scheduled bout with Irish Joe Smith Jr. of Long Island also fell through.
