Tor Hamer versus Kerston Manswell Heavyweight Bout
After a prefight 'staredown', Manswell attacked Hamer, who countered with power shots to the head. Manswell, who could not take the punches, took to continually wrestling Hamer to the canvas, turning the bout ugly right away. Near the end of round one, Manswell went down from a Hamer punch, and tried to grab Hamer as he went down face first. As the fighters got tangled, one of Hamer's gloves bounced off the head of Manswell unintentionally. Manswell remained down and out face first, claiming a rabbit punch. Respected referee Eddie Claudio called time as the round ended, and after Manswell arose groggy, awarded Hamer a TKO. Manswell suddenly got 'better' and went after Hamer, claiming rabbit punch, nearly causing a melee. If Manswell was hoping for a disqualification, the referee did not buy it. Manswell, who normally fights between 220 and 263 pounds, came in at a massive 280 pounds, and was unable to move against the 225 pound Hamer. Manswell has now lost five consecutive bouts outside his native Tobago, and the fact he is fighting too much overweight has something to do with his recent performances.
