Gene Espinosa beat Jackie Red Stephens by KO in round 3 of 10
- Date: 1934-01-01
- Location: Civic Auditorium, Watsonville, California, USA
"Stevens" was a substitute for George Goodman. Despite the rain, there was a "full house" with "brown men" (Filipinos) being a majority of the fans. In the first round, Espinosa was knocked down for a six-count before coming back to knock down "Stevens" twice. The crowd started to cheer loudly after Espinosa's first knockdown of "Stevens." Towards the end of the second round which also featured plenty of action, Espinosa knocked "Stevens" down, but the bell rang before the count was completed. When the third round began, "Stevens" hadn't recovered completely and was knocked out with a accurate right cross by Espinosa.
