- In a televised Fox Sports welterweight crossroads bout main event, Joselito Lopez got a technical win over fading Mike Arnoutis after eight rounds due to an accidental headbutt which caused a large cut above Arnoutis' left eye, causing Arnoutis to plead with the ringside doctor after round eight ended to stop the bout, who then told referee Raul Caiz Jr. to end to the bout and go to the cards. Good close in-fighting scrap, a lot of exchanges at close quarters. Lopez had a higher punch count than Arnoutis by far, but was only slightly ahead in terms of punches landed. A short straight jab from Arnoutis dropped Lopez for a flash knockdown near the end of the second round, keeping the bout close.
- The ring was not cut off, forcing Lopez to fight it out all night with southpaw Arnoutis with nonstop action. Arnoutis stated after the bout he boxed blind for the final round of the bout after the butt. However, Lopez, a loser of three of his last four bouts coming in, was slightly ahead in the bout than onetime contender Arnoutis, a loser of seven of his last ten bouts, so the close scorecards were still accurate. If the bout was not stopped, and Arnoutis won the last two rounds, Lopez would still win on the bout on the scorecards by split decision 95-94, 95-94, 94-95.
