Cruz won the 1st round, due to a low blow thrown by Marshall near the end of the round. Not long after the 2nd round opened, Marshall landed a right to the head of Cruz, which put him down for an eight-count. Cruz was dropped for a second time with a left hook, for a nine-count. Marshall then sent Cruz down for the third and final time with a left hook to the head. Cruz's corner threw in the towel at this point.
