• In a minor upset, the more polished Niyazov outboxed the far more experienced but slow starting Cuba. Niyazov fought moving sideways left to right off the edge of the ring with the ring ropes right behind him for two rounds, and avoided ring center. In the third, down two rounds to none in the four rounder, Cuba came out swinging for a knockout and now tried to get inside on Niyazov, but got hit with a powerful right uppercut, put on his back and ten counted out. The knockout, in the midst of a quiet technical bout, brought the crowd in Millenium Theatre to its feet.
