According to the Boston Globe, Greb won 7 of the 10 rounds. Smith started well but Harry took charge in the fifth. It was an action-filled fight. The Pittsburgh Post reported that there were 10,000 fans saw the fight. Smith's blows were solid but Jeff had a hard time hitting his opponent. Greb landed three times as many punches. On the inside he beat a tattoo on Smith's ribs and hit with precision "from almost any position." The Boston Herald also gave Greb seven out of ten rounds, feeling he was much too speedy for Smith. The Boston Herald also felt that Greb wasted a lot of punches, feeling that some of his best combinations were blocked by Smith.
