This was a controversial stoppage, according to the Allentown Morning Call. Miller had won the first five rounds, but had begun to tire, allowing Tomez to win the 6th round. In the 7th round, Tomez was leading again, when the two exchanges blows along the ropes. Miller appeared to slip to the canvas, and got up without a count. As the two stepped in to fight again, Saurina stopped the bout, to the protest of Miller's corner.
