Notes
- Chris Algieri won his third world title (two in kickboxing, and one in boxing) and raised his overall professional record to a solid 40-0.
- Algieri was down for flash knockdowns twice in the first round with a swollen right eye. Provodnikov went down once later, ruled a slip.
- Algieri's right eye appeared swollen and blinking in the first round after getting hit. Noted cutman Big George Mitchell solved the problem.
- Algieri trounced Provodnikov in terms of the overall punch count and punches landed. However, Provodnikov landed the harder blows.
- Provodnikov came forward all night with pressure. However Algieri used his height and reach advantage to perfection, scoring frequently.
- Provodnikov admitted after the bout his style didn't go well with stick and move running fighters like Algieri, who he didn't want to chase.
- Many rounds were close, Algieri landed more in almost every round, while Provodnikov landed the more telling blows. A split decision resulted.
- Algieri admitted after bout his right eye was swollen shut after the eleventh round, and he had fought the final round blind in the right eye.
- According to CompuBox, the 12th round was the only round in which Provodnikov outthrew or outlanded Algieri. Nevertheless judge Tom Schreck from New York was the only judge who scored the last round for Algieri (also from New York). If Schreck wouldn't have given Algieri the last round, the bout would have been declared a draw with Provodnikov retaining the title.
