Emile Griffith 151 lbs beat Yama Bahama 156 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Before the fight, Bahama was quoted as saying, "Emile always takes the lead and spoils the other man's defense." True to his word, Bahama came out the aggressor in the bout for the first minute. However, his punches did not have an effect on Griffith, who landed the harder blows throughout the fight. In the 7th round, Griffith landed a looping right hand to the chin, that staggered Bahama. Griffith attempted to finish off Bahama, but was unsuccessful, as Bahama was fighting back at the end of the round. Griffith would also stagger Bahama with another right to the jaw in the 8th round.

Bahama suffered a cut under his left eye in the 2nd round, and bled from his nose in the bout. The crowd booed referee Harry Kessler's scorecard.
