- In his first ever fight in Canada, 33 year old heavyweight veteran Derric Rossy scored the biggest upset of his career by winning a ten round majority decision over 21-1 Joe Hanks, in a battle of New York heavyweights. With this win, Rossy qualified for a vacant New York State Heavyweight title bout with Jarrell Miller, who stopped Joshua Harris in the second round on a Brooklyn boxing card on the same night.
- Hanks was not the same fighter he once was, and appeared not to have fully recovered from his July 2013 stoppage loss to Andy Ruiz Jr..
