Capers had height and reach advantage over the short muscular Valykeo. Capers used his reach to keen advantage, moving side to side, and coming forward to nail Valykeo with counter power shots whenever he tried to bully his way inside. Capers, born in Brooklyn, admitted after winning the bout he did expect to win a decision in the other fighter's home territory. NYSAC judging appeared neutral and fair.
