Bass knocked Anderson down nine times in the bout. Anderson's best moment came in the 8th round, when he dropped Bass for an eight-count with a right hand to the chin. Anderson tried hard to stop Bass, but Bass responded by dropping him with a right hand, and putting him down two more times in the round. Anderson was also knocked down once each in the 1st, 2nd, and 5th round; and three times in the 10th round. Anderson did win many portions of the bout, and gave what the Des Moines Tribune called a "heroic battle."
