Robert Stieglitz 168 lbs beat Siarhei Khamitski 167 lbs by DQ at 3:00 in round 9 of 12

  • In a relatively even bout, which appeared to be much closer than the scorecards indicated, Robert Stieglitz won by TKO against game opponent Sergey Khomitsky. Stieglitz was the more busier fighter, while Khomitsky focussed on single punches.
  • A left-right combination sent Stieglitz to the canvas in the end of round nine. However, the referee ruled it a slip.
  • Khomitsky was taken out of the fight at the start of round 10 while his right glove was retaped. According to WBO supervisor Beate Poeske, Khomitsky's corner took off the loose tape from Khomitsky's wrist, which was ruled as prohibited. According to Miss Poeske, Khomitsky's corner was only allowed to cover the loose tape with furthermore tape. Khomitsky was already dealing with a loose tape in the previous rounds. Miss Poeske said, that Khomitskys corner had no more tape in reserve and that there was no cutman, who could deal with the situation. So, the WBO's statement was, that Khomitsky was taken out of the fight at the beginning of round ten, because his corner was not able to retape the right glove and because Khomitskys cornerman detached the rest of the loose tape.
