Harry Joe Yorgey 164 lbs drew with Eric Mitchell 162 lbs by MD in round 6 of 6

In the main event of a Pro-Am card promoted by Andre Acuna's Lionheart Promotions, veteran Eric 'Twin' Mitchell won the first three rounds, surprising experts. Mitchell used a 'land a power shot and then tie up your opponent approach', frustrating former NABA champion and world ranked Yorgey, a slow starter. Trainer Marshall Kauffman, formerly with Yorgey, was in the Mitchell corner with Aaron Mitchell providing sound advice. In round four, Eric Mitchell deviated from the game plan, and did not listen to his corner, trying to wage a technical fight war with the younger and more seasoned Yorgey, which did not work on two scorecards. Yorgey appeared to outbox the older Mitchell, landing jabs in round four, five, and six with almost no reply. Both fighters remained extremely cautious of each other ability and experience, and chances were rarely taken in the six rounder. Mitchell took the fight on short notice and comported himself well. One judge had it 59-55 Mitchell, based on his early round momentum. Former world welterweight champion Kermit Cintron and noted boxing promoter Jay Newman were in attendance. Noted matchmaker Mike Melendez made his 'debut' as a ring announcer. A capacity crowd on 750 local boxing fans attended Andre Acuna's first boxing show in the Designer Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza. Yorgey dominated the bout from the fourth round on. HIs major opponent appeared to be inactivity. Mitchell, 44, who took this bout on short notice, was in condition and put up a good account of himself, and if he had sufficient time to prepare for this bout could have won. The game plan, and not the ability of the fighters, however, determined the majority outcome of the bout. Yorgey's ring rust was evident, with one ringside judge scoring it 59-55 for Eric Mitchell.
