Erik Spring 153 lbs beat Jason Wahr 153 lbs by TKO at 1:01 in round 4 of 4

  • In the fight of the night on Andre Acuna's Lionheart Promotions Pro-Am card, Jason Wehr of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a fighter with a losing record who trains himself, came into the bout on top condition and engaged Reading area junior middleweight prospect Erik Spring in a toe-to-toe slugfest reminiscent of George Foreman versus Ron Lyle. Both fighters went bombs away with power shots and absolutely no defense. Wehr went down in the second but beat the count and continued his 'go for broke' approach. Wehr, who was cut above the right eyebrow from Spring's bombs, frequently played 'Possum', acting like he was hurt to sucker Spring in, and then unleash counter bombs of his own, some of which landed. The pace was furious, and Wehr finally began to tire, with Spring dropping the exhausted but still winging Wehr a minute into the fourth round, who beat the count, with the referee ending the contest.
