The Brazilain and South American bantamweight champion, Eder Jofre (122 lbs), kayoed the Chilean bantamweight champion, Claudio Barrientos (122 lbs), in the eighth round, after having sent him to the canvas eight times. Barrientos was the man who defeated Eder Jofre at the Olympic Games in Melbourne (Australia) in 1956. Eder ended the fight with a series of right crosses to the head and hard uppercuts to the body.
