The Ring record book lists this fight as a Draw verdict, due to there being controversey on the scorecards of the fight. The winner was announced to be Doug Demmings, but Chiaverini's manager, Peyton Sher stated that the scorecards showed a Draw and argued, to which Ring magazine honored a Draw verdict. The Minnesota state boxing commission maintained that there was no error, and that the action by Ring was without merit, as the scorecards show a win for Demmings, but that the ring announcer simply mis-read the scores (today the scorecards are at the Minnesota Historical Society in the state commission files), and held that the Win for Demmings stands.
