In his third fight on his comeback trail, Eder Jofre faced Manny Elias, Phoenix, AZ. In 1965 they fought ten rounds to a draw here. Both fighters were after revenge.

After the first round, Jofre began to dominate the fight, but Elias was hard to nail. Eder built up a good points lead and it looked like the good old days when he showed Elias his whole register. Elias tried to force the Brazilian to the ropes to do some infighting, but didn't succeed. Eder, the much faster, managed to clear himself out of the way.

Eder was very close to putting Elias on the floor, but the bell saved the Yankee.
