Marcello hurt Flanagan with a right hand to the jaw in the 1st round, but failed to follow up, though Flanagan said after the fight that he was only off-balance. Marcello continued to fight well until the 3rd round, when he began to tire, and Flanagan took over, dominating the rest of the bout.
