Wilson was a heavy 5-to-1 favorite, per the Hollywood Citizen-News. Wilson toyed with Breese for three rounds, before he started to stalk his man in the 4th round. In the 5th round, Wilson dropped Breese with a straight right hand for a nine-count. Breese came up fighting, and took the fight to Wilson after that. In the 6th round, with five seconds remaining, Breese broke out of a clinch and landed a right hand to the chin that dropped Wilson.

Wilson was saved by the bell, and dragged to his corner. His corner was still working on him when the 7th round, began and he was clearly out on his feet as Breese rushed in for the finish. The referee then called a halt to the bout.
