Jack Johnson beat Black Bill by KO in round 7 of 10
- Date: 1906-04-16
- Location: Peerless A.C., Pittston, Pennsylvania, USA
- Referee: J Buck Kelly
Jack Johnson, heralded as the heavyweight colored champion of the world--yes, the world--met another colored gent traveling under the ferocious cognomen of "Black Bill." in what was to be a ten round boxing bout. "Bill's" ferociousness appeared only in his name, and the champion still holds the title--that is as far as "Bill" is concerned. The gentleman with the darkened name felt indisposed after the seventh round. (Pittston Gazette, April 17, 1906)
