- DiBella prospect Bryant 'Pee-Wee' Cruz remained unbeaten in a technical war with awkward Mexican-American Jose Morales. Cruz, who landed jabs by volume but lacked power, had trouble with the strange style of power hitting Morales, who fought with his hands down but had a solid chin despite his lack of defense. Whenever Cruz went inside to land, Morales would wildly slug it out, missing with some shots, landing with others, staying busy and forcing Cruz to fight, keeping him off balance. Once Cruz realized the tough Mexican was standing in front of him throwing a barrage of power shot bombs and would not go no matter what, the contest became a war. Cruz appeared to win the last two rounds on points and the close bout, as the pace slowed slightly. Interesting matchup by noted New York City matchmaker Joe Quiambo. Confusing style of Morales led to three different scorecards.
