Battling Wilson fought Abe in "the livliest exhibition of the evening" as noted by "Ketchell and Wagner Draw, Abe Shades Soldier Wilson", The Day, New London, Connecticut, pg. 14 April 1916. Wilson was a soldier who had a reach advantage on Hollandersky, who landed a number of telling blows to the face, but frequently landed on Wilson's back, elbows, and neck. Abe's inability to land telling blows was probably the result of a shorter reach and perhaps a lack of speed that comes with age, as he was 28 at the time of the fight and nearing the end of his more competitive boxing career. Though The Day gave Hollandersky a slight edge, the bout was close.
