In an upset, 2-5 veteran light middleweight Dominique Foster ruined the professional debut of highly touted amateur Nicholas Hernandez. The first two rounds were close with both fighters trying to get off first on the inside. Midway through the third, Foster decked Hernandez with a right hook counter coming over Hernandez' lazy left, putting Hernandez on all fours. Hernandez beat the count, then struggled to hold on till the end of the round. Foster put it all on the table on round four, throwing everything he had at Hernandez, who was still hurt and unable to keep up with Foster's better work rate. One judge had it 40-35 Foster. Foster pulled the bout out in the end 38-37 on the other two cards by winning round four. Foster's third round knockdown of Hernandez, perhaps a bit lucky, turned the bout tempo his way.
