• In the 'Fight of the Night' at Webster Hall on Dmitriy Salita's Star of David Promotions eight bout card in New York City, in a battle of young rising heavyweights, the taller and lighter 207 pound Salas won the first sticking and moving, and by the second round the shorter heavier 237 pound power hitter Perea was tired. However, Perea found a place for his powerful left hook and frequently rocked and taunted Salas, who held on. Interesting contrast of styles somewhat hard to score. Close bout. Scoring appeared neutral and fair. The scorecards went three different ways. Hard fought bout for both improving fighters, who embraced in friendship after the draw decision. Salas might have done better if were a heavier fighter, but the weight disparity left him able to score on Perea but not do much more on him. Despite appearing to be exhausted, Perea used his power advantage to land power shots and keep the bout close.
