Tony Averlant beat Shawn Miller by UD in round 12 of 12

  • Tony Averlant retained the World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Light Heavyweight title by 12 round decision in hometown in his "retirement" bout.
  • Miller's father, trainer Bob Miller, felt Averlant threw more punches, enough to win the bout in France, but stated Averlant's punches didn't hit anything, and felt his son Shawn would have gotten the decision if it were in the United states.
  • Serdar Sahin and Shawn Miller, Averlant's last two WBF opponents, were tentatively offered the opportunity to fight for the WBF world belt next after this bout if the title was declared vacant.
  • Averlant changed his mind regarding retirement before the WBF officially declared the title vacant and remained the WBF world light heavyweight champion.
