Loughran won the newspaper decison. Loughran was down in the 3rd for a count of "8." Darcy's autobiography claims that all the local papers gave the bout to Loughran, but one had it a draw. Actually, both the Philadelphia Public Ledger (Paul Zabala) and the Philadelphia Inquirer (Jack Kincaid) had Loughran winning, as did also the Philadelphia Record in its year-end summary.
