The knockout in this bout was unusual. Corbett had charged Breedlove into the ropes, when Breedlove landed a left hook to the body of Corbett. Corbett attempted to escape the blow by throwing himself backward against the ropes. Corbett instead sprained his neck, and he dropped to the canvas unconscious, along with Breedlove who tumbled with him. It took help from Corbett's corner and the Roseburg commision physician to get Corbett back to his dressing room.
